Synopsis: 
Our heroes are attacks by more of Gath's soldiers led by the New Mutants and Vision and the Scarlet Witch. Rogue, Cannonball, and Wolfsbain are slain, Starfox and Wasp are captured and transformed into monsters, but the heroes escape. They decide to take the battle directly to Gath, but he is well prepared. Spider-Man dies revealing Gath's only weakness, his amulet. Storm take the amulet from Gath only to have it seized by Selene who has had switched places with Magma. Mortally wounded, Warlock infects Storm with the Techno-organic virus and she is able to stop Selene. Dr. Strange and Illyana combine their powers to turn back time and prevent this from ever happening. Unfortunately, this 'temporal spacial claudication' somehow brings Nimrod to this timeline from the alternate nightmare timeline.

Synopsis:
Rogue, Colossus, and Nightcrawler spend a bit of time doing some outdoors training. They witness an incredible impact and come face-to-face with Warlock's powerful father, Magus. They battle and give Magus a difficult enough time that he decides to withdraw. Meanwhile, Professor X is mugged after his lecture and he is seriously hurt.

Jay's Notes:

  • The X-Men/Alpha Flight miniseries takes place just before Professor X's mugging.

Synopsis: 
Xavier is rescued and healed by the Morlocks. After a quick tour of the underground, Callisto escorts him home. Meanwhile, the late Thunderbird's younger brother assumes the Thunderbird mantle and put in motion a plan to revenge his brother's death on the X-Men. He contacts the X-Men and lets them know he has kidnapped Sean and is holding him at the Norad command base which Nefaria had seized control of. The X-Men led by Nightcrawler are forced to take the bait and attempt a rescue. Unfortunately, Empath and Roulette, two Hellions, are helping out Thunderbird. They subdue Xavier and arrange for Norad to detect. Thunderbird begins to question his motives and decides to confront Xavier. He looses his nerve and Xavier convinces him he's done the right thing. The X-Men defeat Empath, Roulette, and free Firestar from Empath's control. Thunderbird and Firestar decide to return to the Massachusetts Academy and to Miss Frost. In response to their invasion of the Norad Command Base, a warrant is issued for the arrest of the X-Men.

  • Storm finally makes her way to Africa.


June 1985
Uncanny X-Men # 194: "Juggernaut's Back In Town!"

Synopsis: 
The Media reports that the Juggernaut has been spotted in downtime NYC. The X-Men investigate, but learn that Juggy, in his civvies, simply has a bank appointment. Things change, however, when Nimrod shows up and attacks the Juggernaut. Nimrod defeats the Juggernaut and the X-Men fall back against Nimrod. Rogue absorbs Kitty's, Colossus', and Nightcrawler's powers and severely damages Nimrod. Nimrod flees and Juggernaut also makes his exit.

Synopsis:
Annalee, a Morlock who lost her children, makes an attempt to forcibly adopt Power Pack. However, Katie Power escapes and the X-Men get involved. The confront the Morlocks and when Callisto learns of Annalee's plans, Callisto quickly brings the dispute to an end. 


August 1985

Synopsis:
Professor X learns that some of his students may be plotting to kill someone. As it turns out, Professor X is the target. Fortunately, Rachel comes to the rescue. Magneto has apparently summoned to Xavier's side for some mysterious reason. Meanwhile in East Africa, Storm is seriously injured by the Strucker twins who are on safari.

Jay's Notes:

  • This issues is a Secret Wars II crossover. It's a rather passive crossover since the Beyonder spends the issue observing from the shadows.
  • The letter page suggests that a Storm and Forge limited series by Chris Claremont and Barry Windsor-Smith, but unfortunately is never published.


September 1985

Synopsis:
Colossus and Kitty are kidnapped by Arcade who needs them to protect him from an apparently angry Dr. Doom. Kitty and Colossus are a bit suspicious, but they play along. As it turns out, they're caught in between a yearly duel in which Miss Locke, Arcade's assistant, attempts to kill him. Colossus finally ditches his guilt over his betrayal of Kitty and tries to rebuild their friendship.


October 1985
Uncanny X-Men # 198: "Lifedeath: From the Heart of Darkness"

Synopsis:
Storm, injured and suffering from delusions, wanders through a desert in East Africa. She recovers her will to life and rescues a pregnant woman from an overturned bus. Storm accompanies the woman to her village where she helps her give birth to her child. Storm learns a lesson about life and death, and finally finds her place in the world without her powers.


November 1985
Uncanny X-Men # 199: "The Spiral Path"

Synopsis:
Cyclops returns to the team and learns that Professor X is dying of the injuries he sustained in issue #192. Rachel visits her mother (Jean Grey)'s home and accepts the Phoenix force as her birthright. Magneto and Kitty attend a remembrance ceremony for the Holocaust, but they're attacked by the Freedom Force (formerly known as the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants + Spiral) who have been charged with Magneto's arrest. The X-Men join the battle and help defeat the Freedom Force. However, Magneto decides to turn himself in.

Jay's Notes:

  • A Havok and Polaris limited series written by Louise Jones is hinted at in the letter page, but never materializes.
  • The Nightcrawler limited series is also mentioned and hinted that it will explore his relationship with Amanda. The limited series is published, but unfortunately, it has nothing to do with Amanda.


December 1985
Uncanny X-Men # 200: "The Trial of Magneto"

Synopsis:
Magneto is brought before the International Court of Justice and held accountable for his past crimes. Meanwhile, several terrorist attacks occur and the X-Men are framed. The X-Men track down the terrorists and force a confrontation. Unfortunately, these attacks are just a diversion. Fenris (Andrea and Andreas Strucker) attack the court proceedings and attempt to kill Magneto and Professor X. The X-Men join the battle, but Fenris escapes. The attack, combined with his deteriorating physical state leave Professor X near death. Magneto vows to take Professor X's place at the school. The StarJammers shows up and take Xavier away.

  • 40 page double-sized issue.
  • The X-Men return from their Asgardian adventures (New Mutants Special and X-Men Annual #9).
